Job Description

Aptus Recruitment are currently searching for a Senior Client Manager on behalf of our client based in Newton Abbot. The job role is a permanent opportunity on a full-time basis and would suit a candidate looking for a new opportunity with a practice that has a fresh approach to accountancy.

About the company
Your offices are situated in Newton Abbot, in an area that is easily accessible from the dual carriageway or via public transport. Although tucked away and supposedly small from the outside, the offices offer an open plan working space to complement their open and honest approach to their work with colleagues and clients alike. In the board room you will find a pool table discretely disguised as a standard table with a glass chess board atop for those recreational moments when you need time away from your desk. Your desk will be in amongst other client managers and close to your directors so that you can openly collaborate with your team. Whilst there is seemingly a hierarchal structure in place, everybody here has the client’s best interests at heart, so they prefer a more candid and collective approach to work – the shackles of timing fees will truly be off so that you can focus on providing an effective service.

About the job
Right now, they are looking to expand their team during their continuous period of growth. There is a huge amount of work to take on here which is mainly brought on by word of mouth. Our client is now looking for a candidate to focus on providing a consistent point of contact for their clients; somebody who is conscientious and who looks for ways to help and improve for the client rather than focusing entirely on finishing the job quickly.
Heading up a team of other client managers, you will be able to provide technical support with your hands-on experience and knowledge and share this with your colleagues. As a result, experience within an accountancy practice is absolutely fundamental as you will be involved with various levels of work including corporate accounts/tax returns, sole trader and partnership accounts, business taxation, bookkeeping and VAT and HMRC enquiries to name a few. You will also have the opportunity to manage a client base, develop these key relationships by various modes of communication and even set up new clients with some potential business plan work involved.

The right candidate…
We are looking to speak with organised, conscientious candidates who enjoy working autonomously as well as part of a team. You will have client care and customer rapport at the heart of everything you do and will feel comfortable supporting the company directors by taking on client bases with minimal support.
Whilst experience within an accountancy practice is crucial, specific qualifications are not necessary, so you can be QBE from a practice background. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced client manager looking to work for an organisation that values their staff and wants a new role for the long term.

Your new company will offer a highly competitive contributory pension, private medical cover, income protection policy and death in service. Commission is available based on the introduction of suitable clients as well commission available for the introduction of new employees. There is Flexi time available with early finishes on Friday as part of standard hours and you will also be given 2 duvet days per holiday year. Furthermore, casual wear is a standard in the office every day, you will be given two extra holiday days over the Christmas period and a social committee is in place with a social fund provided by the practice.
On offer for this job role is a competitive salary of £32 - £37k on top of these excellent benefits.
